Cudeman Sanabria II: A True Bushcraft Knife in a Compact Format
The Cudeman Sanabria II is the answer for those seeking the technical essence of its larger sibling in a much lighter and more portable format. Also born in 2019 through a collaboration with "El Duende Bushcraft," this knife sheds all non-essentials to focus on agility. It's a tool that approaches the dimensions of a neck knife, yet maintains the robustness and grip of a conventional field knife.
Its full-tang design and featherlight weight of just 80 grams make it the ideal companion for those who prioritize minimalism without sacrificing a capable blade. Like the rest of the Sanabria family, this piece stands out for its use of innovative materials and geometry designed for direct interaction with nature, crafted with the artisanal precision that defines Albacete.
Why this Cudeman is right for you
- Extreme portability: Its reduced size allows it to be carried around the neck, in a pocket, or on a belt without feeling its presence, making it perfect as a main knife for light outings or as a backup tool.
- Rustic sustainability: The black jute handle offers a unique rough texture that ensures a firm grip even with wet fingers, in addition to being an eco-friendly and highly resistant material.
- Precision control: Thanks to its short blade length, the user has absolute control over the tip, facilitating fine carving tasks, food preparation, or opening packages with complete safety.
- High-performance design: The jimping on the spine allows for a firm thumb rest, multiplying cutting force despite its compact size.
Steel and edge performance
For the Sanabria II's blade, we have selected molybdenum vanadium steel, an alloy known for its great toughness and excellent corrosion resistance. With a hardness of 54/56 HRc, it offers a very aggressive edge and, most importantly in bushcraft, astonishing ease of resharpening. You can expect impeccable performance in repetitive cutting tasks, maintaining the tool's operability with minimal maintenance in a natural environment.
Construction and resistance
With a thickness of 3 mm and a full-tang structure, this small giant offers surprising structural solidity. There are no weak points in its joint, as the jute scales are secured by high-resistance aluminum rivets. Although its dimensions are not designed for heavy batoning, its integral construction allows it to withstand lateral stress and forceful work that would render other tools in its category unusable.
Handle and control in real conditions
The black jute handle has been reduced to its essentials (9 cm) to maximize discretion and weight, but without compromising the ergonomics necessary for functional use. The natural jute fiber provides a natural and non-slip feel far superior to conventional plastics. Additionally, it includes a lanyard hole, allowing for the addition of a lanyard to extend the grip if necessary for tasks requiring greater leverage.
Sheath and portability
The premium black leather sheath has been designed and entirely crafted in our workshop. It is a minimalist saddlery piece that perfectly fits the knife's contour, ensuring the Sanabria II remains secure in any position. Its lightness (45 gr) perfectly complements the philosophy of this knife: to be there when you need it, but to be invisible while you walk.
Usage scenarios
- Light bushcraft and carving: The perfect tool for crafting small utensils, notches in traps, or peeling sticks with surgical precision.
- Everyday carry (EDC) and hiking: Its discretion makes it ideal for hikers who need a reliable blade for eating or performing small repairs on the go.
- Backup knife: The ideal complement to carry alongside an axe or a large knife, delegating delicate cutting tasks to it.
Care and maintenance
- As jute is a natural fiber, always store the piece in a dry place and avoid prolonged moisture to protect the plant material.
- Clean the blade after each use to remove organic residues; molybdenum vanadium steel is very resistant, but quick drying keeps the satin finish looking like new and prevents rust stains.
- Do not store the knife in the sheath if it has absorbed water; let both dry separately before reassembling.
- Given the natural porosity of jute, avoid excessive contact with mineral oils to prevent saturating the fiber and maintain its original rough feel.
- Keep the edge honed with fine-grit stones to take advantage of its excellent grinding geometry.
The Cudeman Sanabria II (182-T) is proof that size does not define utility. A designer tool, compact and fiercely effective, designed to accompany you every step of your adventure.
