Cudeman Sanabria I: The Essence of Bushcraft in Collaboration with "El Duende"
The Cudeman Sanabria I is a piece that marked a before and after in our bushcraft line after its launch in 2019. The result of a close collaboration with "El Duende Bushcraft", this knife was conceived as a definitive technical tool, capable of facing the most demanding challenges of the natural environment. Its extraordinary design not only seeks functionality, but a perfect symbiosis between the user and the wood, allowing for maneuverability that only experts in the field can appreciate.
Beyond their performance, the Cudeman Sanabria I and II have the honor of being the first and only models from our house made with jute. This material, known worldwide as the "golden fiber", provides a rustic texture and astonishing mechanical resistance, giving the knife a unique personality. It is a pure-bred full-tang tool, designed in Albacete for those who understand that bushcraft is both a technique and an art.
Why this Cudeman is right for you
- Innovation in natural materials: Its black jute handle is 100% ecological and biodegradable, offering a rough and secure grip that improves with use, being extremely resistant to fatigue.
- Primitive fire specialist: It incorporates a metal ferrule or pommel on the handle, specifically designed to serve as a support point for the friction fire technique (fire bow).
- Total cutting control: Thanks to its carefully designed choil, you can advance your grip to perform fine carving and precision work with absolute safety.
- Superior traction: The jimping carved on the spine of the blade ensures that the thumb does not slip during pressure tasks, optimizing the force transmitted with each stroke.
Steel and edge performance
The blade of the Cudeman Sanabria I is made of molybdenum vanadium steel, an alloy that guarantees exceptional toughness against impacts and great resistance to corrosion. With a hardness of 54/56 HRc, this steel allows for very easy edge maintenance in field conditions, ensuring that you always have your tool ready for work. Its drop-point tip and 3.5 cm blade width offer total versatility, from food processing to preparing complex notches in wood.
Construction and resistance
With a 4 mm spine and a full-tang structure, this knife is a solid block of steel capable of withstanding the tough treatment typical of bushcraft. The handle's anchoring with flat aluminum rivets ensures that the jute scales remain immovable, eliminating any type of vibration. It is a balanced 250-gram tool that transmits unbreakable solidity, allowing for moderate batoning and forceful tasks with complete confidence in the integrity of the whole.
Handle and control in real conditions
The black jute handle provides an unparalleled tactile experience. Being a natural plant fiber, it offers porosity that excellently manages sweat or moisture, maintaining a firm grip even in critical situations. Its ergonomics were supervised by "El Duende" to avoid painful pressure points during prolonged use, and it is finished with a lanyard hole that adds extra security in dynamic movements.
Sheath and portability
As is customary in our house, the sheath has been designed and made entirely in our own workshops in Albacete. Made of premium black leather, this sheath ensures a perfect fit for the Sanabria I, effectively protecting the 11.5 cm blade. Its design is robust and functional, allowing for comfortable belt carry so that the tool is always available when nature puts you to the test.
Use scenarios
- Pure Bushcraft: The ultimate tool for building shelters, making utensils, and mastering primitive fire techniques.
- Wood carving: Its geometry and choil make it an excellent knife for hollowing, notching, and detailed work on green or dry wood.
- Classic survival: A compact knife but with the robustness necessary to be your only tool in an emergency situation.
Care and maintenance
- As jute is a natural plant-based material, it is recommended to store the knife in a dry and well-ventilated place to protect the fiber.
- Clean the blade after each use to remove sap residue; molybdenum vanadium steel is very resistant, but quick drying keeps its satin finish impeccable.
- Avoid prolonged immersion of the handle in water to preserve the structure and rustic appearance of the jute.
- Sharpen the knife following the original grinding angle to maintain its excellent wood-cutting ability.
- Do not store the piece in its sheath if it is damp, as the moisture from the leather could affect the steel during long periods of inactivity.
The Cudeman Sanabria I (181-T) is a jewel of technical cutlery. A tool with history, unique materials, and the guarantee seal of the best national bushcraft experts.
