Cudeman Spanish Green Beret: The global tactical icon that silenced all doubts

In 2010, the landscape of military survival witnessed the birth of a giant. Drawing inspiration from the master lines of the historic Argentinian Yarará model, we in Albacete decided to push the concept to its limits. We redesigned its ergonomics, optimized its geometry to make excellent semi-handcrafted manufacturing viable, and created the Spanish Green Beret (299-B). Today, its unmistakable silhouette is recognized worldwide. It is such an overwhelming and coveted tool that its legend has been forged not only by surpassing the most extreme operational tests, but also by remaining unyielding against the noise, slander, and bad publicity from those who, in the past, tried to unfairly appropriate its success and tarnish its legacy. Time and terrain always prove the reliability of material that does not fail.

This tactical and military knife is a display of technical superiority. It's not just an 18-centimeter blade; it's a portable rescue and combat station manufactured for the operative venturing into the unknown. Its weight, power, and destructive capability have made it the gold standard of our brand, demonstrating that a design reaches perfection when manufactured with the seriousness and commitment that true survival demands.

Why this Cudeman is right for you

  • Controlled destructive capability: Its 420-gram weight, balanced towards a wide blade, allows you to machete hardwood or breach with devastating inertia, saving energy with each strike.
  • Integrated rescue center: It incorporates wire cutters, a bullet encapsulator, and a glass breaker pommel, offering immediate solutions in crisis scenarios without having to switch tools.
  • Absolute hand lock: The deep milled jimping on the spine seats your thumb like a vice, guaranteeing total traction when applying directional force or in close combat.

Steel and edge performance

To operate in the planet's most hostile environments, we selected the unforgiving Böhler N-695 steel. Subjected to millimeter-precise heat treatment, it achieves a hardness of 59/60 HRc, providing exceptional edge retention and fantastic corrosion resistance in humid or saline climates. Its grind profile, combined with an impeccable satin finish, ensures deep incisions and clean cuts. Due to its high tactical hardness, we recommend always carrying a diamond or ceramic stone in your kit to restore its operational aggressiveness when in full deployment.

Construction and resistance

We are talking about a portable bunker. Its structure is one hundred percent full-tang, based on an immense 5-millimeter thick and 4.5-centimeter wide steel plate that forms the spine of its total 31 centimeters. The scales are armored to the chassis with thick stainless steel Allen screws and threaded brass internal bushings. Its Clip-Point tip is extremely lethal in penetration, but using tactical logic, you must remember that its hollow grind profile makes it a master of cutting and impact, not a crowbar for prying and dislodging rocks.

Handle and control in real conditions

In high-stress situations, grip is your only life insurance. The handle features tough satin black micarta scales, highlighted by an aggressive red liner. Micarta is a laminated artificial composite absolutely immune to water, blood, or mud, ensuring that the knife adheres to your hand even if you are wearing soaked assault gloves. The design culminates in the rear glass breaker, which includes a lanyard hole, ensuring the tool remains anchored to you during the most demanding extraction maneuvers.

Sheath and portability

A knife of this magnitude demands a versatile and armored carrying system. The Spanish Green Beret includes a robust, multi-position black leather sheath that follows the knife's silhouette. As is the pride and non-negotiable standard of our brand, this tactical sheath is entirely self-manufactured, designed, cut, and hand-assembled by our artisans in our facilities. For a piece of this caliber, the carrying system must be impeccable. Depending on your level of tactical demand, the S.G.B. adapts with three sheath options:

  • 299-B: Multi-position black leather sheath, practical, classic, and resistant for horizontal or vertical carry.
  • 299-BC: Full black leather sheath that includes a complete survival kit (sharpening stone, signal mirror, ferro rod, and high-quality red paracord).
  • 299-B-K: Black Kydex sheath, ideal for purely tactical or high-humidity environments, offering unbreakable mechanical retention and ultra-fast extraction.

Use scenarios

  • Military missions and tactical deployments where a heavy tool is required to breach and process the environment.
  • Emergency rescue interventions, taking advantage of its ability to break vehicle glass and cut wires.
  • Hard survival and extreme bushcraft, replacing the axe for felling and processing thick firewood.

Care and maintenance

  • Disinfect and clean the blade with soap and water after each operational mission, removing chemical or biological residues to preserve its satin finish.
  • Thoroughly dry the Böhler N-695 steel before inserting it into the leather, especially after operating in jungles or marine environments.
  • The micarta on its scales is a material that does not require any type of oil, wax, or hydration; clean it with a simple damp brush.
  • Routinely check the tightening of the Allen screws before each outing, ensuring that the structure remains solid after long machete sessions.
  • Respect the angle of its original grind when sharpening the edge, using diamond tools to avoid generating irregular wear on the blade.

The Cudeman Spanish Green Beret (299-B) is the overwhelming answer to those who doubt the power of national manufacturing. Equip yourself with the tactical legend that passed all tests and dominate your next objective with total authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

Popular questions from our customers

  • All Cudeman products are designed and manufactured entirely in Albacete, Spain. The brand has over 38 years of experience, combining traditional Albacete cutlery craftsmanship with the latest technologies (such as laser cutting and CNC machining). When you buy a Cudeman, you are acquiring a product with a designation of origin that guarantees quality and know-how.

  • 1. Premium Steels: Böhler N695 / N690Co

These are the benchmark steels in our high-end range. Böhler is synonymous with purity and Austrian technology.

    • Properties: High hardness (58/61 HRC), excellent corrosion resistance, and superior edge retention thanks to their high chromium and cobalt content (in the case of N690Co).
    • Ideal use: Extreme survival and bushcraft knives (like the famous MT series or the Green Beret), designed to withstand intensive use without losing their edge.

    2. The Gold Standard: Molybdenum Vanadium (MoVa)

The quintessential steel of Spanish cutlery, valued for its great structural balance.

    • Properties: Reaches a hardness of 54/56 HRC. Its greatest virtue is its toughness (impact resistance) and ease of re-sharpening in the field, even with basic stones.
    • Ideal use: Hunting, finishing, and general-purpose knives. It's the all-terrain steel that never fails in hunting activities.

    3. Swedish Precision: Sandvik 12C27 / 14C28N

Very fine-grained stainless steels produced in Sweden, ideal for those seeking a "laser" edge.

    • Properties: 14C28N, in particular, offers a masterful balance between hardness (57/59 HRC) and corrosion resistance. It allows for very sharp edges that are resistant to micro-fractures.
    • Ideal use: High-end folding knives (EDC), adventure cutlery, and pieces that require a clean and precise cut.

    4. Tactical Resistance: 420 Stainless Steel

A very elastic steel resistant to external agents, used in specific high-impact pieces.

    • Properties: Lower hardness than the previous ones (50/53 HRC), which makes it extremely resistant to breakage under torsion or impact. It is virtually immune to oxidation.
    • Ideal use: Throwing knives, diving tools, and low-maintenance tactical cutlery.
  • A high-quality knife is a tool for life, but its longevity depends on maintenance, especially when combining technical steels with natural materials in the handles.

    1. Cleaning and Drying (Crucial for natural materials)

    • Hand washing: Clean the blade and handle with warm water and neutral soap. Never use a dishwasher, as extreme heat and chemical detergents are lethal to steel and wood.
    • Attention to porosity: If your Cudeman has wood, antler, or bone scales, avoid submerging them or leaving them to soak. These materials are porous; moisture can cause them to swell, crack, or separate from the knife's chassis.
    • Immediate drying: Dry the entire piece with a soft cloth immediately after washing. Make sure no moisture remains in the rivet area or joints.

    2. Lubrication and Protection

    • The Blade: If you are going to store the knife, apply a thin layer of mineral oil (or camellia oil) to the steel. This creates a hydrophobic barrier against environmental moisture, which is vital even for stainless steels.
    • The Handle: For natural wood handles, it is advisable to occasionally apply a little linseed oil or beeswax. This nourishes the material, seals the pores, and prevents it from drying out or accidentally absorbing water.

    3. Storage and Leather Sheaths

    • Leather is organic: Leather sheaths are hygroscopic (they absorb moisture). Do not store the knife inside its sheath for prolonged periods of inactivity, as the leather's tanning and retained moisture can cause oxidation pitting on the steel.
    • Sheath maintenance: Hydrate the leather regularly with horse grease or specific creams. A flexible and nourished sheath better protects your tool and prevents the leather from cracking over time.

Golden rule: A Cudeman knife is not ruined by use, but by neglect. Clean, dry, and store separately if you are not going to use it soon.

  • Cudeman offers a lifetime warranty against any manufacturing or material defects.

Important note: The warranty does not cover natural wear and tear from use, nor damage caused by misuse of the tool (such as extreme batoning with models not designed for it, throwing the knife, or using it as a lever).
Items made with natural materials (woods, antlers) or special resins (Juma) may show inherent differences in grain and color compared to the photographs. These aesthetic variations do not constitute a manufacturing defect and are therefore not covered by the warranty or eligible for return.
