Cudeman Safari 116-B: a small hunting knife with a white Micarta handle
The Safari 116-B is the kind of knife that always ends up on your belt because it never gets in the way. A 9 cm drop point blade, full tang and a white Micarta handle with red fibre spacers that looks like nothing else in the range.
We made it in our Albacete workshop and it is no longer in production: what is left in stock is all there is.
What you get
- 9 cm blade, 3.5 mm thick: thin enough to cut cleanly, tough enough for field work.
- Drop point tip: easy to control and versatile, from opening to detail cuts.
- Full tang: the steel runs through the whole handle; nothing to work loose over the years.
- 20 cm overall: you can carry it all day without noticing it.
- Brown leather sheath included.
The steel: MoVa 1.4116
Molybdenum-vanadium stainless steel hardened to 54/56 HRc with a satin finish. A forgiving steel: it copes well with moisture and blood, and a few strokes on a stone bring the edge back.
Dimensions
Blade 9 cm, handle 11 cm, overall 20 cm, 2.5 cm wide and 3.5 mm thick. Satin A-304 stainless bolster. About 350 g with the sheath. Made for cutting, not prying or hammering.
Why white Micarta
Micarta is layers of fabric pressed with resin. It doesn't swell with water, doesn't crack in the cold and grips well with wet hands. In white it slowly takes on an ivory tone; the red spacers add the contrast. Lanyard hole included.
Uses
- Small and medium game: opening, skinning and dressing in the field.
- Camp kitchen: peeling, chopping, slicing.
- Collecting: a white Safari is hard to find again.
