Cudeman Bushcraft: Its Name Perfectly Reflects Its Nature
The Cudeman Bushcraft 148-M is, as its name suggests, a knife designed by and for outdoor enthusiasts and survivalists. With an 11 cm blade and a 4 mm thickness, this piece has been conceived to withstand the most demanding use in the forest, offering absolute confidence to those who rely on its edge to build shelters, process wood, or light fires in adverse conditions.
Manufactured entirely in Albacete, this model stands out for its perfect balance between maneuverability and structural robustness. Its full tang design and specific geometry make it one of the most valued knives in our range for bushcraft activities, where mechanical durability is not an an option, but a vital necessity.
Why this Cudeman knife is right for you
- Scandi grind: The edge tapers directly to the cutting edge without a secondary bevel, which greatly facilitates woodworking (carving).
- High-end steel: The use of Böhler N-695 guarantees superior edge retention and exceptional corrosion resistance, ideal for humid and jungle environments.
- Versatility of carry: Available in two sheath versions, allowing you to choose between the lightness of the simple sheath or the complete survival kit for long expeditions.
- Secure fastening: The handle is anchored by stainless steel Allen screws on brass bushings, ensuring that the scales remain attached to the steel frame under any circumstances.
Steel and edge performance
The blade features the prestigious Böhler N-695 steel, with a hardness of 59/60 HRc. Thanks to its Scandi grind, this knife "bites" into wood naturally, allowing for precise cuts in carving tasks (woodcarving) and resisting impact in moderate batoning tasks. The satin finish facilitates blade cleaning after intensive use.
Construction and resistance
This is a full tang knife with a thickness of 4 mm, which means the steel is continuous from the tip to the pommel. This structure gives it unbreakable solidity for heavy-duty tasks. Its standard tip is robust and designed to withstand piercing tasks without compromising its integrity. It is a tool created to last for generations, provided its logical limits are respected and it is not used for extreme prying on non-organic materials.
Handle and control in real conditions
The handle is made of satin black micarta with red fiber spacers. Micarta is the reference material for bushcraft due to its extreme resistance to impacts, heat, and humidity. Its ergonomics have been carefully designed to prevent pressure points that cause blisters after hours of work. The satin feel ensures a firm grip even with hands wet from rain or resin, and the lanyard hole adds that extra security needed in forest environments.
Sheath and portability
The design of its black leather sheath (148-M) with red stitching is comfortable, simple, and includes eyelets for adding a rope or paracord that completely surrounds the leather. The complete version (148-MC) is the multi-position sheath (horizontal or vertical carry) with the full survival/bushcraft kit.
Two options to adapt the carry to your mission:
- 148-M: An efficient and functional black leather sheath equipped with hollow rivets for attaching a cord or our paracord.
- 148-MC: The complete leather configuration that includes the survival kit (sharpening stone, signal mirror, ferro rod, and 2.8 meters of paracord).
Usage scenarios
- Bushcraft techniques: Specialized in processing firewood, preparing stakes, notches for traps, and use with a ferro rod.
- Survival: An emergency tool capable of covering all construction and defense needs in nature.
- Expeditions: Ideal as a primary knife on multi-day trips where equipment reliability is critical.
Care and maintenance
- Clean and dry the blade after each use, especially if you have worked with resinous woods or wet materials.
- Since it is a Scandi grind, you should note that it is not a traditional edge. It is an edge that must be used and treated with care. It is a very sharp edge but weaker than a conventional edge. To sharpen it, keep the edge resting the entire flat surface of the grind on the sharpening stone to maintain the original factory angle.
- The black micarta does not require special maintenance; if it gets dirty, clean it with water and neutral soap to restore its original color.
- Occasionally treat the sheath's leather with a specific product to keep it flexible and water-repellent.
The Cudeman Bushcraft (148-M) is more than just a knife; it's your perfect "wood-eating" ally that cuts like no knife you've ever owned before.
