The only bolo machete created by extreme experience and tested on television

The wild does not forgive inadequate material. The Cudeman SVK II (252-M) is the direct result of learning in the most demanding conditions. In 2017, we were selected to equip the participants of the television program "La Isla" on La Sexta, presented by Pedro García Aguado. We sent twelve prototypes made of high-hardness steel, but the reality on the ground decided their fate: three of them yielded and broke, unable to absorb the vibration of continuous blows against wood. That setback was our best lesson.

We completely changed the alloy to molybdenum vanadium steel, which is much tougher and more flexible, eradicating any breakage problems. Today, after countless sales without a single structural failure, we present this variant designed for the user seeking maximum discretion. A sober and elegant alternative to the orange color of the first variant (252-.J), designed for those who demand brutal performance in clearing without sacrificing a classic and tactical aesthetic in the mountains.

Why this Cudeman is right for you

  • Sobriety and elegance in the mountains: Its tactical finish gives you a low profile, ideal if you prefer your equipment to go unnoticed without losing an ounce of effectiveness.
  • Unstoppable inertial cutting: With a 31.5-centimeter blade and a powerful blade width, the tool does the hard work for you by multiplying the force of each blow.
  • Total hand retention: The lanyard hole ensures that the tool will never fly off, protecting your physical integrity from muscle fatigue.

Steel and edge performance

The key to a good machete lies in its ability to withstand punishment without chipping. Molybdenum vanadium steel, heat-treated to a hardness of 54/56 HRc, offers that vital flexibility for intense machete work. It absorbs impact, mitigating the transfer of vibrations to your wrist, and at the same time, ensures a durable edge that you can easily restore in the middle of the jungle or forest with portable sharpening tools.

Construction and resistance

This is a full-tang beast. The same 3-millimeter thick steel piece extends from the robust machete-style tip to the end of the handle, providing unquestionable solidity to its 450 grams of weight. The entire assembly is put together with stainless steel Allen screws and threaded brass internal bushings. It is a structure designed for tireless wood chopping and clearing, although for purely technical responsibility, remember that its flat profile is not designed for forced prying.

Handle and control in real conditions

Directional control is absolute thanks to its satin black micarta scales, which contrast spectacularly with the red spacer. Micarta offers outstanding grip even if your hands are soaked with sweat, rain, or mud. For tasks where you need to shorten your grip and apply controlled force, the spine has a jimping area for a non-slip thumb rest. Finally, the rear part culminates in a solid pommel, ready to strike in extreme situations.

Sheath and portability

A blade of these dimensions requires impeccable transport. Therefore, this model comes with a black leather sheath with red stitching to match its scales, manufactured in-house and crafted from start to finish in our workshops. Its design securely wraps the blade, allowing for stable belt carry that does not hinder movement through dense undergrowth and ensures quick and clean drawing.

Usage scenarios

  • Aggressive opening of trails and paths blocked by brambles or vines.
  • Preparation of medium wood structures for the construction of bivouacs and emergency shelters.
  • Processing of branches and light firewood to maintain fire in base camps.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean the blade after each use with warm water and neutral soap to dissolve embedded resins and sap.
  • Molybdenum vanadium steel requires being completely dry before storage; always wipe the entire surface with an absorbent cloth.
  • If the tool will go weeks without use, apply a few drops of mineral oil to the metal to create a protective barrier against rust.
  • Restore the sharpness of the edge using a whetstone or a carbide sharpener, respecting the original grinding angle.
  • The black micarta scales are an unalterable synthetic material; they do not need oils or moisturizing products, just brush them to remove dry dirt.

The Cudeman SVK II (252-M) combines the discretion of black with performance tested under maximum pressure. A tool made in Albacete never to fail when the going gets tough.

Frequently Asked Questions

Popular questions from our customers

  • All Cudeman products are designed and manufactured entirely in Albacete, Spain. The brand has over 38 years of experience, combining traditional Albacete cutlery craftsmanship with the latest technologies (such as laser cutting and CNC machining). When you buy a Cudeman, you are acquiring a product with a designation of origin that guarantees quality and know-how.

  • 1. Premium Steels: Böhler N695 / N690Co

These are the benchmark steels in our high-end range. Böhler is synonymous with purity and Austrian technology.

    • Properties: High hardness (58/61 HRC), excellent corrosion resistance, and superior edge retention thanks to their high chromium and cobalt content (in the case of N690Co).
    • Ideal use: Extreme survival and bushcraft knives (like the famous MT series or the Green Beret), designed to withstand intensive use without losing their edge.

    2. The Gold Standard: Molybdenum Vanadium (MoVa)

The quintessential steel of Spanish cutlery, valued for its great structural balance.

    • Properties: Reaches a hardness of 54/56 HRC. Its greatest virtue is its toughness (impact resistance) and ease of re-sharpening in the field, even with basic stones.
    • Ideal use: Hunting, finishing, and general-purpose knives. It's the all-terrain steel that never fails in hunting activities.

    3. Swedish Precision: Sandvik 12C27 / 14C28N

Very fine-grained stainless steels produced in Sweden, ideal for those seeking a "laser" edge.

    • Properties: 14C28N, in particular, offers a masterful balance between hardness (57/59 HRC) and corrosion resistance. It allows for very sharp edges that are resistant to micro-fractures.
    • Ideal use: High-end folding knives (EDC), adventure cutlery, and pieces that require a clean and precise cut.

    4. Tactical Resistance: 420 Stainless Steel

A very elastic steel resistant to external agents, used in specific high-impact pieces.

    • Properties: Lower hardness than the previous ones (50/53 HRC), which makes it extremely resistant to breakage under torsion or impact. It is virtually immune to oxidation.
    • Ideal use: Throwing knives, diving tools, and low-maintenance tactical cutlery.
  • A high-quality knife is a tool for life, but its longevity depends on maintenance, especially when combining technical steels with natural materials in the handles.

    1. Cleaning and Drying (Crucial for natural materials)

    • Hand washing: Clean the blade and handle with warm water and neutral soap. Never use a dishwasher, as extreme heat and chemical detergents are lethal to steel and wood.
    • Attention to porosity: If your Cudeman has wood, antler, or bone scales, avoid submerging them or leaving them to soak. These materials are porous; moisture can cause them to swell, crack, or separate from the knife's chassis.
    • Immediate drying: Dry the entire piece with a soft cloth immediately after washing. Make sure no moisture remains in the rivet area or joints.

    2. Lubrication and Protection

    • The Blade: If you are going to store the knife, apply a thin layer of mineral oil (or camellia oil) to the steel. This creates a hydrophobic barrier against environmental moisture, which is vital even for stainless steels.
    • The Handle: For natural wood handles, it is advisable to occasionally apply a little linseed oil or beeswax. This nourishes the material, seals the pores, and prevents it from drying out or accidentally absorbing water.

    3. Storage and Leather Sheaths

    • Leather is organic: Leather sheaths are hygroscopic (they absorb moisture). Do not store the knife inside its sheath for prolonged periods of inactivity, as the leather's tanning and retained moisture can cause oxidation pitting on the steel.
    • Sheath maintenance: Hydrate the leather regularly with horse grease or specific creams. A flexible and nourished sheath better protects your tool and prevents the leather from cracking over time.

Golden rule: A Cudeman knife is not ruined by use, but by neglect. Clean, dry, and store separately if you are not going to use it soon.

  • Cudeman offers a lifetime warranty against any manufacturing or material defects.

Important note: The warranty does not cover natural wear and tear from use, nor damage caused by misuse of the tool (such as extreme batoning with models not designed for it, throwing the knife, or using it as a lever).
Items made with natural materials (woods, antlers) or special resins (Juma) may show inherent differences in grain and color compared to the photographs. These aesthetic variations do not constitute a manufacturing defect and are therefore not covered by the warranty or eligible for return.
